Good show, but she didn't seem to do much talking -- maybe she was just trying to squeeze in as many songs as she could... anyway, I'm hoping she'll play a more relaxed set tomorrow night at Wellesley... I was pretty sure she mentioned something about just having moved somewhere near the Green River (where is that? Not around Boston? I've never heard of it...), but then she said she didn't have to drive very far to get to Cambridge (in comparison to having to drive all the way to Philadelphia just to play 3 songs -- what was *that* about?) Anyway, just curious ;-) - m ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 03 Dec 2003 09:01:30 -0600 From: "Erin Westberg" Subject: little-wings: Lots of songs I'm guessing she just wants to sing as many songs as possible, especially from her new album. On one hand of course I'd love to hear her elaborate on the meaning of most songs, but in reality she knows we came to hear the music and that's what she accomplishes. So, I suppose it depends on the venue. If she feels more at home she might talk more, without feeling like she's trying to get each audience member to buy into her music. Either way, I'm just glad she's got new material to flaunt. *Happy sigh* ~E >>> "Marshall Levin" 12/03/03 08:47AM >>> Hi there, Did anybody catch Kris last night at the Lizard Lounge? I saw a couple of shows and would have loved to hear a little more of her banter, but she was cranking out the songs. As for Green River, it appears to be in the Northwest section of Mass in Franklin County, the other side of the state from Boston. (mind you, i'm in SF looking this up via internet resources!) Here's a map of part of the Green River from a rafting site. Green River runs primarily North/South, is part of the Deerfield River basin, and it appears that the largest town along the river is Greenfield. All in all, it's in Western Mass versus the coast. http://www.zoaroutdoor.com/images/green-river-b-800.gif okay, i've actually gotta work! :) happy hump day! It sure is great to be reading posts about Kris! I recently was fortunate enough to see Kris & Jabe Beyer perform in early November @ the Ark in Ann Arbor, Mi. and also the next evening @ our quaint coffeehouse/music club The Toast & Jam in Ft Wayne, Indiana. Kris was superb for both shows, but @ the Toast & Jam she really opened up as far as talking & telling stories. She told chicken stories, talked about performing in London and even had a few Boston quips etc... Kris can banter with the very best of them! This Woman is just simply grand to see in performance! REDBIRD - - A brand new and a great release! All of Kris's fans should check out this cd. Of course, I wish there were even more of Kris singing, but the gentleman who sing and play with Kris are mighty-mighty fine! A perfect stocking stuffer for Kris fans & for music lovers. The Feb tour should be great, too bad the three don't tour together back home! Hi Everyone, Just wanted to drop a note and say hello. I first saw/heard Kris in August at the Cafe Carpe in Fort Atkinson, WI, when she opened for Peter Mulvey, who I've known and loved for years. Jeff Foucalt also was there (of course, as that was the weekend that they recorded the 40 songs that would eventually be whittled down into Redbird) and I saw the three of them together for the first time. I was captured by Kris' lyrics and musicality and bought all four of the discs she had there (I even got a discount--she's so nice). I've been a fan ever since. And when I saw Jeff play at the Carpe again in early Nov., and he told me she was playing Chicago the next night (Jeff: I hear she's good), I had to skip my friend's house concert and go see her at Schubas with Jabe and Mark Erelli. Fantastic. There was quite a bit of banter that night, and I must say that she was glowing and in fine form! I'd brought my friend along and we both agreed it was an excellent and memorable night. ("Honeyed Out" was particularly stirring, as was "Broken White Line.") I said all that to say that I am now and forever will be a fan... And go buy Redbird. It's fantastic.
