So, my poor little series, still struggling along trying to find some people around here who'll actually come out and listen to great musicians and songwriters play in a small venue for a lousy $15 will end it's first half year of existence (actually only 4 months and a week) having presented the following lineup: 7 Jack Williams (July 25, 2003) 7 Darryl Purpose (September 19, 2003) 7 Geoff Muldaur (October 4, 2003) 7 Chuck Pyle* (November 2, 2003) 7 Mark Erelli* (November 15, 2003) 7 John McEuen* (November 29, 2003) Not a bad little lineup. And it looks like we'll start 2004 with at least the following: 7 Peter Case* (January 2004) 7 Ellis Paul* (February 2004) As I run around town, putting up flyers, trying to get the media to talk to me, and generally spending virtually every waking hour pouring my blood, sweat and (as too many of you know) tears into this effort, I wonder: "Is anybody around here interested in REAL music, played by REAL musicians? Or do these ARTISTS have to get their navel pierced and wear hip-hugger pants and a bare-midriff top to get someone's attention?" Uh, that was probably a rhetorical question:-) - -- Carey Driscoll http://www.AcousticMusic.com/SanDiego Phone: (619) 303-8176 ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 Oct 2003 23:06:40 -0400 From: jean sapula Subject: little-wings: Kris' Iron Horse show Hello... Where are all the Kris fans reporting on her show on 10/11/03? OK, OK, I'll start.....well, of course, I'm a little bias, but Kris' show was great! She played through almost every song off her new CD, then she slipped into some older material, "Red Herring", "Garden Rose" played a brand new....song, I'm not sure of the song's name.......she then joked about learning the Scorpions song called "Hurricane", but after downloading it, she said the lyrics were so cheesy, she couldn't go thru with it. Instead, Kris did "Like a Hurricane" from Neil Young...."Honeyed Out" and "Broken White Line". It was interesting to see Kris play with a full band. She seemed to take on a little more of a rock star posture playing with the band. Then, she switched back to her usual personna when playing solo, with that little smile at the end of the song that just says, "gee, I think they liked that!" Either with or without the band, it was an excellent show. My friend and I talked with Kris after her show. She had announced during her set that she's going to be moving from the Boston area to the Northampton area.... This was good news to my friend and I, thinking Kris may perform more often in the area...So my friend asked Kris which town in the area will she be living?....but I think it freaked Kris out...she kinda paused.. and avoided answering the question....I think she's thinking we're stalking her...We're just happy to have another great performer close by... All in all, Kris won the Iron Horse crowd over with her performance..... So, come on, I'm sure there were a few more little wings people at the Iron Horse show...what did ya think?
