I actually live in Cleveland, but was able to schedule a work trip around this show!! And it was well worth it. What a great show. It's really awesome to hear the new stuff live. Jabe Beyer opened the show with a few songs on his own and then a few songs with Kris. It was my first time hearing Jabe and I really enjoyed it. He and Kris did a song together that they had just recorded in the studio the day before. I forget the exact name...something to do with paradise. Anyway, it was a great tune and Jabe and Kris sounded really good together on it. Be sure to request it during Jabe's set when they come to your town!! After Jabe's set and a short break, Kris took the stage. Jabe joined her on all but a couple of tunes. She did the first 7 songs from the new CD...not exactly in the order they are in on the CD, but pretty close. They all sounded great, but Weathervane was definitely the highlight for me. That song just really comes to life when played live. Kris moved on to some old favorites, including Cluck Ol' Hen, Broken White Line, Mean Old Wind, and Weatherman (at the audience's request). My personal favorites from this part of the show included Red Herring, where Jabe's Harmonica playing really added to the performance, and Tear My Stillhouse Down, which I'd never heard Kris perform live (beside on the Oddlot CD). After finishing up the set with Little Wings, Kris and Jabe were cheered back onto stage for an encore. She asked for requests and I shouted out Hurricane. It is my favorite from the new CD and becoming one of my favorites of all time. Kris seemed pleasantly surprised to have a request for a song from the new CD. She and Jabe obliged and the song totally rocked!! They finished up with a great rendition of Honeyed Out. What a great ending to a wonderful night. Seems that Kris was into playing the more upbeat tunes tonight. She and Jabe joked several times about trying not to depress the crowd. She commented that things didn't seem quite right in the world between Arnold Schwarzenegger becoming governor of California and the Red Sox being in the World Series! Those of you looking to buy a T-shirt will be excited to know that there is quite a variety available!! The design is the same on all of the shirts - it is the artwork from the CD cover. But you have many color choices. Red shirt with white print, black shirt with red print, brown shirt with yellow print (my personal favorite) and many more! They look very cool. I think I must be wired because it is 2:00 AM and I've just written a very long review!! Sorry for letting the length of this get out of control!! Hope you all get to catch Kris in a venue near you. Be sure to let us all know about it if you do! Good night! Jeff from Cleveland The New Yahoo! If you are, I'll be doing merch, so stop and say hi. :) And man, I'm definitely buying a shirt.
