And that's saying a LOT considering I got the new Natalie Merchant cd at the same time. OH MY GOD! What a incredible recording. Part of it softens you up with Hummingbird, You're No Train and Juice & June, the other part kicks your ass with East of the Mountains, Bobby Lee & Hurricane. Hurricane is a rocker! With wonderful arrangements, excellent musicians, and a voice that gives me chills, Kris has added another gem to her collection. Oh, and the CD is over 49 minutes long. After getting so many cds that are 40 minutes and under (Gillian Welch, Dar Williams, Erin McKeown, Paul Curreri), it's nice to have a cd of a more appropriate length (imo of course). Yea! for a new Kris CD don - -- "We believe in a higher intention somewhere in the darkness beyond There's a sign of affirmation that we all share a common bond." -- "Common Bond" The Kennedys Don Semmens; Richmond VA; donsem@comcast.net Richmond Songwriter Series http://www.richmondsongwriterseries.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Aug 2003 23:42:01 -0500 From: "Wade and April" Subject: little-wings: Re: - ----- Original Message ----- From: "baystate" > Got the CD a couple days ago, and it has barely stopped playing. "Hummingbird" is lovely, "Hurricane" is powerful, and I love "Bobby Lee." I had a question about another favorite "Short Work." On the lyric sheet the chorus reads "Now you're leaving and you're even making short work of goodbye." Am I hearing it right, though, that she actually sings that line "Now I'm leaving and I'm even making short work of goodbye"? (Okay, a silly detail I know, but I be curious!) Anyway, the album is great! Congratulations to Kris and everyone who worked on it!
