["Richard Hill" Subject: little-wings: Steve with guitar? Howdy, I'm new here, having signed on early this morning. I've no idea how active or inactive this list is, but I guess I'll be finding out. Caught a fine set by Kris last night at the Independent Media Center in Urbana. Kris was aided by tasty licks from sideman Steve on hollow-bodied Telecaster, and electric mandolin. His contributions filled out the songs quite nicely, I thought. I even chatted with him for a few minutes after the show about that unique Telecaster. Question: What is Steve's last name? He not only told me, he spelled it for me, but I'm embarrassed to say that it went out my other ear. I took a few pictures last night, and I'll want to label them correctly. Help, please. What's his last name? Thanks, ~Richard ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Nov 2002 15:37:20 EST From: Mediadawgs@aol.com Subject: little-wings: Kris/Erin pics from Madison/Chicago! Hey Little Wingers! I'm brand new to this list but have been listening to Kris for a couple of years now. Those on the Nields Nook already know far too much about me! This past week found me at the Madison and Chicago shows with two Nookers who came out from Philly and Rhode Island just for these two shows!! We, of course, had a blast! anyway... I posted my pics up on my webshots page at: http://community.webshots.com/user/mediadawgs if you want any of these pics right click and save them or email me and I will send them. I am not posting these to sell pics for webshots... only your enjoyment! later! - -George!!! ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Nov 2002 15:28:59 -0600 From: "Sharon Pieczynski" Subject: Re: little-wings: Steve with guitar? Hi ya, I was at the show last night too.....great music :-) I was especially glad to hear Kris do the Dave Carter song along with 4 newer songs. Now if I could only hear Andy's Song and Arm's Length live!!! Oh yeah, Steve's last name is Mayone :-) Sharon - - Original Message ----- From: "Richard Hill" To: Sent: Sunday, November 10, 2002 12:50 PM Subject: little-wings: Steve with guitar? > Howdy, > I'm new here, having signed on early this morning. Thanks, Sharon. All I could think of was "Marone", and I knew that wasn't right. I had expected the crowd to be primarily there for Erin, but was very much encouraged to hear the enthusiasm with which Kris was welcomed. My entirely non-quantitative assessment was that there were more people present for Kris at this show than at the smaller coffeehouse in Ann Arbor where she headlined last fall, shortly after Five Stories was released. My best recollection of the set list follows: Cluck Old Hen East of the Mountains Broken White Line Open Road Words Fail Me (with Erin on piano) Hummingbird Mary Lou Honeyed Out (unplugged, after a large POP in the sound system) Little Wings (no encore) I'm pleased that she's able to tour with enough support to bring another musician along, because Steve Mayone's contribution enriches Kris's set significantly. I wondered whether having another guitarist would allow her to play her fiddle, but she didn't bring it out in her own set (she did accompany two of Erin's songs). Kris said that immediately after this tour she'd be in the studio. ------------------------------ End of little-wings-digest V4 #66 *********************************
