Enjoying the thread--goes without saying that Kris D. is always at the top of my list. Found myself nodding to a lot of others favorites. Especially Patty Griffin. Already got tickets to see her at Somerville Theatre on 4/26--haven't seen her lives since she put out her first CD and it's been way too long waiting for her 3rd. Trina Hamlin and Christopher Williams are two artists who always thrill and amaze. Trina H. now lives in NY. She was one of the top three Falcon Ridge Showcase performers last summer so she'll be part of a preview tour this Spring and then playing the mainstage at Falcon Ridge this summer. She has an incredibly powerful and beautiful voice and plays truly amazing harmonica. Christopher Williams is in the Boston area like Kris. He also has a wonderful voice, is a great songwriter and his jhembe(spelling?-it's a type of drum)playing is amazing. Just saw him at Club Passim and he was just wonderful(I need some more adjectives here!).He'll be at Falcon Ridge, also--should be a great summer! --Ellen ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 22 Mar 2002 09:48:47 -0500 From: Jan Hanseth Subject: little-wings: yet another non-Kris artist Everyone should also check out Sarah Pinsker, an artist out of Baltimore. (www.sarahpinsker.com). She's another one with fantastic lyrics, and her voice has a deep dusky sound. Sometimes she tours up around these parts (Boston), most recently with Brenda White and Meghan Cary, two other really great singer/songwriters. So many CDs to buy! j. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 22 Mar 2002 11:19:13 -0500 From: Robyn Follen Subject: RE: little-wings: yet another non-Kris artist have you guys ever heard of zoe lewis? she's got a couple of really great songs that i can't get enough of lately. i caught the end of her set at the cutting edge of the campfire festival last september and she was really funny and has a great voice. worth a listen! - -----Original Message----- From: Jan Hanseth [mailto:janet@ragingwomen.org] Sent: Friday, March 22, 2002 9:49 AM To: little-wings@smoe.org Subject: little-wings: yet another non-Kris artist Everyone should also check out Sarah Pinsker, an artist out of Baltimore. She is being shy but her name is Christene LeDoux and I really think you should check her out. She is the one who turned me on to Kris (for which I thank her) but I have also loved Christene's music since I first saw her at a coffee shop here in San Francisco. You can hear her at the mp3 site: http://www.mp3.com/ChristeneLeDoux Don't be shy Chris, chime up girl! Kev Yahoo! Lori McKenna and Kris Delmhorst played at the Borders in Downtown Crossing at 12:30 pm, hosted by WUMB. Here is my review: Kris started first. Wearing a black long sleeve shirt with burgundy corduroy pants, looking great as usual. 1) Yellow Brick Road She said that she usually doesn't sing this early after her voice went out a little during the song. 2) Hummingbird It's a new song that she wanted to call firefly but she said that because Lori already has a song named that, she'll probably just go with hummingbird. She said it's aa tale of admiration fron afar. 3) Cluck Old Hen "How often do you get to hear a song about chickens?" 4) Broken White Line 5) Little Wings "It's a song of independence." "Here's a little folk solo" when she played the guitar for a bit with no singing. 6) Garden Rose [encore] Lori and Meg Toohey played during the encore. Lori made a joke that she's wearing her guitar lower now and that Kris used to taunt her with how high she wore it, calling it a "sports bra" look. Lori came out second. She wore a black shirt underneath a long sleeve purple shirt with black pants. Meg Toohey played backup guitar and vocals for her the entire time. 1) God Will Thank You 2) Instead Lori said that she was worried she was going to have to bring her 7 month old Meghan to the show but she was sure she could "perform with her in her backpack." She didn't end up bringing her (but there was a really cute young 'un in the front row that kept stealing the show from everyone). 3) (new unrecorded song) 4) (new unrecorded song) She mentioned how much she loved the Ozzy Osbourne show and how she hates missing any episodes. 5) Mars "Meg wrote the setlist out and she wrote it as Maaaaahhhss. I guess I have a accent that's even weird for Bostonians." 6) Fireflies [encore] Kris appeared, brought out her fiddle, and accompanied. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 22 Mar 2002 19:15:50 -0600 From: "folkyboy" Subject: little-wings: Re: one of the unrecorded songs is titled "Righteous" :) (um, i'm referring to Lori McKenna, not Kris ;) ) ~tim - ----- Original Message ----- From: "baystate" To: Sent: Friday, March 22, 2002 3:55 PM > Date: Fri, 22 Mar 2002 07:16:32 -0800 (PST) > From: "J.
