Hey there. Courtesy of Kris and Barb, my Five Stories CD arrived here in the UK on Saturday, and it's been on pretty constant rotation ever since. It's brilliant! If you haven't already got a copy, then rectify the situation this minute (if not sooner)! It's an eclectic mix of styles and arrangements (much more variety than on Appetite), and every one's a winner! I spent a lot of time with Broken White Line on repeat play, and Garden Rose brings back great memories of a night at a Borders store in Boca Raton FL with some special people. Let's hear other views ... I can't be the only one to have a copy of the CD by now! I received my CD last 'Thursday and I too have had it playing constantly. I thought I was restless waiting for October to arrive before (Kris show in Chicago!!) but after listening to the new songs I really can't wait. I agree that it is brilliant. The list of artists helping out is truly impressive, but the songs also sound great solo. So far Damn Love Song and Words Fail You are my favs, but that doesn't mean I don't like them all :-) It only took a couple days for me to get it, so get yours ordered now! "Words Fail You" is awesome too but i LOVE Cluck Old Hen with that funky beat in there. it's gonna be the next "Red Herring". those jammin' songs. I will say I was a tad disappointed with the "Yellow Brick Road" on the cd. it sounded like she was biding time and trying to make it longer than the live version. Maybe she was just trying to make it different? i dunno. but i MUCH perfer the live beat. Where's she's all uppity with it. The artwork for the CD must have cost her a fortune. All color book with BEAUTIFUL pictures. I was amazed. She is so pretty too. I just REALLY am excited about the cd...and it's not just 'cos Lori McKenna sings on "Garden Rose". :) Kris has always been a favorite since the Weatherman days and I think she always will be. Just hearing "Mean Old Wind" makes me giddy all over again. Even "Little Wings" :D aughhh that song rocks!!! those mini clips on the site didn't do this album justice! its so lush and rich! you KNOW she had to have spent a lot in making this. i hope she gets it all back 10 fold! she is wonderful and deserves every penny :) favorite quote on the cd?: how can lie down beside you, night after night/and pick at the lock of your heart/without ever opening my own/cos the last time it got free/it just cut and run/like a stray right out in the street/and it took all i had to make it come home ahhhhhhhhhhhh...killer words from a killer talent :) a definate top 10 cd ~tim ------------------------------ End of little-wings-digest V3 #48 *********************************
