I was first introduced to Kris' music when she opened a show for Catie Curtis in Alexandria, VA. I was blown away by her incredible music and lyrics. I bought her CD at the show that night and have been a fan ever since. I just recently checked out the website where I found out about this list and the Oddlot CD. I was so excited to hear about the CD....I can't wait to get my copy in the mail. So is there much activity here? I'm on Catie's list and it seems that it has been somewhat busy lately. I guess with both Catie and Kris working on new CDs we should have a lot to talk about soon. Looking forward to getting to know everyone. (besides Wildflower and MaryLou)......Kris did a song at a show at Mt. Holyoke...I wasn't sure, but I thought it was a cover of someone else's tune....the start of the song went kind of like this...."Loves like too much sugar, too much sugar...too damn sweet" Any guesses to what that song was?.........I've got my tickets to the March IronHorse show...I'm betting on that night that Kris will have that venue filled to the brim! Chorus Oh don't say that its not lonely Up above the crowd Don't tell me that you don't find yourself Longing for the ground When I asked you one more time Won't you take that curtain down and you said "Don't you know, there's nothing here but me" And I said "Baby, who'd you think I came to see?" Chorus Yeah, yellow brick road Oh I'm not Oh I'm not Oh I'm not.. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 08 Feb 2001 05:01:23 -0000 From: "Nena Rios Metcalf" Subject: song titles Hello all, I wish I could go to the Iron Horse show. It's infuriating to live sooo close and have something else that night. Junior Show will be great fun though. The true title to "Too Damn Sweet" (I think that's what folkboy called it) (do you want us calling you folk boy or is there a name I should be remembering?) is "Honeyed Out." It's a great fun one. I was at a house concert she did once and that was the second to the last song she played. She had all 25 of us chant it with her, we were pretty timid but we all joined in on the whiskey verse :) . Also the title isn't "I know words fill you" it's "Words Fail You." I always think it's going to be Damn Love Song (I don't think it has escaped that title :-D ). That one usually chokes me up. You can just feel the longing of being so close and so distant. I had no idea that there were so many Kris songs on Napster. Are there new ones too or is it just Appetite songs? I'm pretty sure one of the Passim shows in Dec. was bootlegged so I suppose anything is possible. I've got an early class, so to sleep I go, byebye, Nena _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Feb 2001 23:13:16 -0600 From: "the folk boy" Subject: Re: bootlegs oh no, i have 2 Passim shows from December on bootleg. and someone took some of the songs on (i think it was the 12/9) show and put them on Napster. i dont remember like all what they put on there. Kris is an unbelievable artist. i can listen to her over and over. :) i really hope no one puts Oddlot on mp3 tho cos its not that many songs and what would be the incentive to BUY it if you could just download the whole thing? ya know? thats just wrong to kill indie artists' business. thanks for the tip on the Too Damn Sweet song. so its called "Honeyed Out". hrm. heh heh thats a cute title. do you happen to have the bootleg where she mentions the title of the song? heh heh i LOVE her and i only have like 5 bootlegs with her on there. is this the place to be saying all that? i mean, how does Kris FEEL about bootlegs? i don't sell them tho. there is just NO way i would try and make a buck off of Kris :) she's too sweet for all that. My name is Tim, btw. but everyone calls me folkboy for the most part. I am like the only person anyone knows around here thats a folkie. But you can call me Tim if you want ;) ~tim "folkboy" ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Feb 2001 23:14:58 -0600 From: "the folk boy" Subject: Re: lyrics to Yellow Brick Road heh heh yeah i think you're right. i was trying to type quickly when i copied them. my friend and i were chatting at the same time :) ~tim ------------------------------ End of little-wings-digest V3 #9 ********************************
