Kris had a wonderful opening set and then joined Catie and Jimmy Ryan singing backup and accompaning with the fiddle. it was a wonderful show, during kris' set Catie came up and harmonized on a couple of songs. Met some nice people standing in line for the show and also a couple of new friends from our town were there as well. last night we trekked up to an apple farm in Maine, "Apple Acres Farm" where kris was the first ever headliner at the "Cider House." The new venue is cute, quaint with exposed beams and lots of wood. it has a small woodburning stove (although i wished it had been a large woodburning stove because i was freezing.) It was filled with friendly music loving people. it great, kris played 2 sets and for the first time i have ever seen played a solo on the fiddle without anyone else accompaning on the guitar or mandolin. kris sold-out the premier show and she ruled at the Cider House. barb ~ ------------------------------ Date: 27 Jan 2001 10:38:16 EST From: Elizabeth.Lerner@VALLEY.NET (Elizabeth Lerner) Subject: introductions Hi! My name is Elizabeth. I only discovered Kris a little while ago (could it only have been a month and a half? wow). Actually, i first saw her at Falcon Ridge this summer but since she was just helping out Mary Gauthier's set I didn't really pay any attention. Fast forward to December 14th. I'm supposed to here from Smith College the next day as to whether I got in early decision. I decide I need to take my mind off it. Just so happens that there's this great folk music series in Bellows Falls VT at Oona's (a restaurant that has live folk music every thursday) run by Charlie Hunter (Dar Williams' former manager). Kris happens to be playing that night. I had already discovered Beth Amsel at Oona's in the spring, so decided it would be the perfect show. Dragged my dad along (yay for parental units providing transportation and ticket money!). Got seats three feet away from the mic. Was blown away immeadiately, of course. *Sigh*. So here I am. - -Elizabeth (who, along with April, are the vocal Kris fans on the Nields-Nook....we're fierce, and damn good at recruiting if I do say so myself...) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 27 Jan 2001 12:48:46 -0700 From: Jessica Byers Subject: Re: list mail hiya. i actually believe the address to send to is little-wings@smoe.org (not http stuff). barb, i think you need to set the atuo reply address to that one, because when mail comes from you, your address shows up in the reply box. i dontknow how that works.... jess >hi all! > just wish to tell the folks on the list to please address your >email to: > http://little-wings@smoe.org > lately a lot of the email has been sent to me directly and i have been >forwarding it to the list. by using the little-wings@smoe.org email address >your mail will be posted more quickly. >thanks! > barb ~ - -- Jessica Byers 23373 Highway 93 North Arlee, MT 59821 http://www.geocities.com/amari913 "True solace is finding none, which is to say, it is everywhere." - Gretel Ehrlich, The Solace of Open Spaces ------------------------------ End of little-wings-digest V3 #5 ********************************
