I thought i would finally write a review for the Aug. 14 show in Ottawa that i attended. I'll only review the main stage acts cuz i only saw bits of the village and second stage, so i won't comment on those performances. Well anyway... N'Dea Davenport was first to perform on the main stage and i was lucky enough to be right in front. I haven't heard much from N'Dea, in fact i haven't anything of hers until friday. She really put on a show and interacted with the crowd. Ash Sood played some percussion during her set. I only knew one song that she did...i don't know what it's called, but i like the song. She brought out Paula Cole in the middle of one of her songs and they did a little duet. Next was Diana Krall. Her music doesn't really appeal to me so i was bored out of my freakin' mind during her set. She's very talented and her guitarist and bassist were very good too...i just don't like her music. She didn't seem to have enough spunk... Emmylou Harris was next. The only song i knew was "I'm going back to harlan" because it's on the lilith double cd. She actually turned out to be better than i thought and i enjoyed her set. She brought out Sean Ashby and David Sinclair(both are Sarah's guitarists)...at least i think it was Emmylou who brought them out...well anyway they did a song..don't really remember much of her set...should've written this earlier. Paula Cole was next...She was wicked!! She opened with "Me"...i absolutely love that song! She did little spazzy moves, but it was all good. She even did her beat box thing which i think is amazing! Towards the end of her set she went off the stage to make a costume change and came back on with a blonde wig a big black boa! and she sang some french song...i didn't even know she sing in french until then! She was very energetic and i would love to see her in concert by herself. Next was the one and only Sarah McLachlan!! As usual she opened with Last Dance then Sweet Surrender. As always she was spectacular live!!She brought out Emmylou to do Angel with her...which i absolutely loved, but i like it better with sarah just by herself. She also brought out Paula Cole to do "Elsewhere" which has to be one of my fave songs of all time! And it was so cute when they wheeled Ash in when sarah did Ice Cream, and as always the crowd sang along. For the finale they did Marvin Gaye's "What's Goin' On"...it didn't seem like there were very many people on the stage compared to other shows i've seen pictures of, but it was still amazing! Abra Moore and Sarah did a little dancing together...everyone on stage seemed like they were having a great time! Tammy Raybould(local Ottawa lilith act) seemed like she was on cloud 9 when she was on stage with all the performers. Well, that basically sums it all up.
