Dat stands for digital audio tape recorder and it is what recording studios use to mix down to from ADAT or other multitrack formats. A portable dat and the corresponding condensor mic, sold seperately will cost you a few hundred bucks though. And no they usually do not allow recording devices of any type so yes you will most likely have to hide any device you want to take in to lilith. The recorder you used at the cranberries is designed for close proximity dicatation and that is why it didn't work well you need an omnidirectional condenser microphone to be able to pick up the array of sound at a good enough level of gain to get a good recording. 8mm stereo camcorders make good sound recordings if you have access to one and are cunning enough to get it past security and into the venue. Hope that helps. Mich a friend of Lei's - ---Lei wrote: > ATTACHMENT part TEXT message/rfc822 > > hey people, I need some help. Hey, guys. That's unfortunate some of you have had such bad luck or had to be so discreet with cameras. I personally had no problem this year at the Shoreline Liliths and was able to walk around with one and snap pictures during performances (maybe not the most tactful thing during a ballad :D, but moment in time, right?) as well as others around me. I was just snapping away and I got some GREAT kick ass shots (at least the ones I've devolped so far anyway) that some even posed for. I'll be scanning them this week so please let me know if you are interested in seeing them! I took a half a roll of Sarah and I can't wait to see them... :) Forgetmenot, Dulce - -------------------------------------------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe lilith-fair-fans - -or-- unsubscribe lilith-fair-fans-digest ------------------------------ End of lilith-fair-fans-digest V1 #30 *************************************
