I've wanted her cd for so long but I still haven't got it :( But I had the good fortune to see her yesterday at the Ottawa Tulip Festival for only 3.50$!!!!!! I got half price tix but I would've paid the average concert tix (35-45$??) to go! It was almost like a mini Lilith! (Our newspaper called it Tulipth Fair :) Oh Susannah, Mae Moore, Dayna Manning and, the last performer, TARA MACLEAN were there! I was right up front where the stage was and I look LOTS of pics :) It was amazing! (I sang some karioke too :) Sweet Surrender just doesn't have the same affect to a bunch of drunk fat guys smokin their cigarettes :P) Anyway, all the performers were so nice and talked to the audience and tuned their guitars and stuff. When Tara was gonna play Jordan I started yelling and clapping real loud and she said "You know this song?" I said YEAH!!!!! and she says "You lie ;) Oh, it's on the Lilith Fair cd..." I'm clapping and yelling alot :) What a gorgeous night! I can't remember the name of the song she sang last but it was just her singing and I melted into the grass it was so beautiful...:) My best friend actually commented that she's "a young Sarah" :) i wish I had known CBC was broadcasting it cuz I would've taped it! *breathe* there we go...I guess this is Lilith-related cuz that's what last nite reminded me of and it has to do with awesome women singers so I guess this is ok :) Shawna =) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com - -------------------------------------------------------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe lilith-fair-fans - -or-- unsubscribe lilith-fair-fans-digest ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 09 May 1998 14:41:59 From: "glitter-girl@usa.net" Subject: [lilith-fair-fans] Hartford CT show...... The whole time I was in line I was trying to dial Protix in Maryland and couldn't get through. I finally got through to the DC number, not the 800 number. Glad I finally tried that, worth the phone charge to finally get through. In Columbia, I'll be in N37 Left Center on the 18th, and Z19 Left Center on the 19th. I feel fortunate to get that since I didn't get through until two hours after opening time. In Charlotte, I'll be in section 3, row K21. Not bad, alittle off center but I think I'll be okay....hehe. Well, I'm set...now it's off to work I go. July won't get here quick enough. I have Lilith on the 18th & 19th in Columbia, Lilith on the 21st here in Va Beach, followed by Dave Matthews Band on the 22nd, and Lilith in Charlotte on the 23rd. Sounds like the making of a pretty good vacation, doesn't it? ;-) The only question is whether I should go to Camden on the 17th. Hmmmm....decisions, decisions. heehee By the way, anyone going to the Charlotte show, Liz Phair was listed on the second stage at the Ticketmaster site. I had really wanted to go to this festival, but, alas, have to save up for my "mega-Lilith tour" this summer... :) Do tell us more about the whole fair and what it was like, pretty please > My gawd but that womin has a > voice on her. She also dealt really well with a rude SOB down front > who was making stupid comments throughout her intro. Just pauses, > looks at the guy and goes "Will you shut up?" Excellent performance. Yes, Tara does have quite a voice, doesn't she?! :) Mmmmmmmmmmm... In fact, some have compared her to a younger Sarah when the latter was starting out...though Tara is of course a wonderful, unique artist in her own right. :) Your mention about the rude SOB brings back memories of me, Whit, Jess, Karl, Bill, Kevin, etc. going down to see Bill (husband and guitarist) and her play at the Agenda Lounge in San Jose...the unruly losers at the back by the bar were totally inconsiderate, making an annoying racket as they guzzled their beers and tried to pick up women in the middle of Tara's performance, so eventually she addressed them directly as the "frat boys back there"...*heh* What's really cool about Tara besides her wonderful music is that she and Bill are really nice people with a sense of humour... :) If you're interested in Tara, there's a mailing list (ITW or "in the wings") devoted to her - Justin Sheehy, a fumbler here is also the list owner if you'd like more info... *end of sales pitch, hee* > Dayna Manning was also cool...although I knew less of her stuff, > definately worth the new mosquito bites on my body. *ouch* ;) Though some have compared her to Jewel (in a complimentary sense), Dayna is...Dayna! And she's really good!!! Was Kevin the cellist accompanying her? Like Tara & Bill, Dayna is really nice and appreciative of her fans...for example when she opened up for Lisa Loeb with Tara at the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver the night before the Junos, Dayna saw us hanging out in the lobby during a break, and left her entourage to take the trouble of coming over to us to say hi - guess she had remembered some of us when Alana, Traci, Lisa, Whit, Jess, Heidi and I had chatted with her in SF! Coincidentally, she told us she was staying at the same hotel as us (Jessica, Michael, Greg), just a couple of floors up... :) P.S. Any Canadians tape the CBC coverage of the Ottawa Tulip festival? Tab? Jason?? Anyone??? :) *fumblecheers!* Edward Uh, sorry, no cute or clever signatures to be found here. Subject: [lilith-fair-fans] Re: can a pittsburgher help someone who needs a LF ticket? Thank you Leslee for helping out with some info - I woke up at the ungodly hour of 5:45 am PST this morning and started manning the phones...got through to the Pittsburgh TM at 9:01 am EST, was put on hold only to be told that tickets for the COCA-COLA STAR LAKE Pittsburgh Lilith would not go on sale until 10 am...*rats* Alright, 9:58 am rolls around, so I dialed the Pittsburgh TM again... busy signal as expected, so proceeded to fire up the redial features of my 2 phones...10 minutes later of busy signals or the dreaded "all circuits are now busy" message, I start worrying, and decided to try a different tack...went to the TM website and looked up phone numbers for what I reckoned were relatively low volume TM sales areas (i.e. Binghamton in upstate NY) where no major local events were going on sale. Alas, after going through a dozen plus numbers for the Tri-State Area and Mid-Atlantic States, was still facing the busy line syndrome...so, in some desparation, I rang the El Paso (Texas) number and got through! Yeah! Asked for the Pittsburgh Lilith, and the salesperson made me wait for the longest time ("don't hang up, my supervisor's taking care of this for you sir") only to eventually inform me that the event was not listed on their computer system...grrrrrrr.... Well, already 10:25 am, so I try the Philadelphia number and after 5 minutes, was connected...finally...well, not quite...after some time, "sorry sir, you can't buy tickets to this event through our location"... now why didn't they tell me straightaway?? I'm in Northern California where we don't have TicketMaster, so how was I to know you can only buy tickets on the phone from the actual city where the event was taking place?? Guess that's why I was also told there was no toll-free number for TM... *huff* So back to square one...repeated dialing in to the Pittsburgh number, busy signals of course interpersed with an occasional endless ringing without anyone picking up...aaaaaaahhhhhhh....even got through once, and wasted 5 minutes listening to silence at the other end....grrrrrr Kept polling the TM website to see if the online option had been activated yet (supposedly an hour after), but no luck... :( Finally...success!!!! Well, had to go through all the various selections as it was completely automated, and it was already 11:20 am. So, somebody please tell me Section 8 Row J isn't located a million miles from the stage - I can't find a map of the venue and I'm not from the area, so have no bloody clue! Hope to see some of you there... sorry for my lengthy rant about my ticket buying experience, hope everyone else had better luck, with less aggravation... :) *fumblecheers!* Edward Uh, sorry, no cute or clever signatures to be found here.
