He doesn't like a lot of stuff out there, so when he says you are good, guess what, that means you are excellent! He not only said that you are good I think he said Darcie and her band are incredibaly talented. If they don't make it, the music world is insane. There you have been ultimately complimented. Thanks for playing Am I The One. You are amazing when you sing that. Good luck with the touring and I hope your bus gets and stays healthly! It was nice to see everyone again. It was nice of you to come out! It was hard to get the crowd into the show, everyone in Philadelphia is so different than Harrisburg... the music fans and the level of talent. The crowds are much more reserved, (at least from what I've seen) and they are very, I don't know how to put it but it seems it takes ALOT to impress Philly club goers. Then of course, I remember the first time I played GSP, EVERYONE WAS SOOO GOOD. Every band was excellent, like TOP quality. Which is something I'm not used to hearing or seeing, I mean the majority of the bands in Hbg., are well, 80's cover bands with a buncha old guys that cover 3 Creed songs in there sets, while downing a beer a song and the crowd doing the "drunk dance" on the floor. I'm sure Dave can attest to that. Basically I'm saying I love Philly so much, it's a very musical town, and the crowds are much more into *listening* than anything else, which is the opposite of most of Hbg. :-) And so, that compliment means alot. Thank you Karla, Dave and Wayne for coming!!! ~darc - ----- Original Message ----- From: Karla Frisco Sent: Thursday, June 27, 2002 8:22 AM To: Let-It-Out@smoe.org Subject: Let-It-Out: Pontiac Grille Hey Darcie, I just wanted to tell you that the man I was with is a very critical music lover. Even though Dave has spelled my name wrong all but once in this email.......LOL...... I have to say this is lovely and thank you. Here's me, minutes before going on shaking in my boots cuz I'm so nervous. Soooooooooooooooo nervous. Sooo very very very very nervous. I thought I almost tripped on these two cables when I walked out too. haha But hey, I did it. And I'm so proud I did it. It's like playing on a whole different level. Like, everybody graduated this year, you know, my class, and me....well I opened for Patty Griffin!!!!!! And met her too! She was all laid back drinking wine. Pretty rockin. Love those shoes. She's so beautiful. I told her that I practically study her writing and one day hope to be able to write like her. She was cool. Even commented on my Santa. :-) If you guys can understand, that was a HUUUUUUUUGE performance for me. Probably the most meaningful show I have ever done. I feel like I accomplished something I've been waiting years to do. Or just wanting to do. Hopefully next time around too.... ; ) I gotta write into the MM list now!!!!!!! AND PACK MY CLOTHES!!!! AND HIT WAL MART!!!! lol AND THE DOLLAR STORE!!! Gotta love Family Dollar. AND DO THE WASH!!!!!!! PACK MY CLOTHES!!!!!!!! AHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm taking the BIGGEST suit case ever. I told the guys and they're like "WhAt?!" I'm like well "well i'm taking a smaller one for shoes...." haha I gotta pick and choose what to take. hmmm...... I'll jump back on here later. See you guys and thank you all for the Patty G. show, ~darcie - ----- Original Message ----- From: FlamingRed74@aol.com Sent: Monday, June 24, 2002 11:18 PM To: Let-It-Out@smoe.org Subject: Let-It-Out: Let me be the 1st to say.. Wow! Our girl Darice rocked the house tonight opening for the ONE and ONLY Patty G! Seriously.. there are not many people who can accomplish such a feat and actually be listened to and APPRECIATED by the audience. Many people have tried, and I think 99 out of 100 of them have failed. Most times I see Patty's openers up there, laboring through the task & always suffering the inevitable fortune of being tuned out by people who are waiting for the single greatest singer/songwriter of our time to emerge onto the stage.. not that her fans are ever rude, but they usually are SO anxious for Patty that they get tired of the opener after a few songs.. Not tonight. Darcie got the most appreciative & most seriously enthusiastic applause that I've ever heard a Patty opener get. That is NOT me being biased in the least bit. One Big Line, Mama, & even Orphan sounded amazing with Darcie playing them just solo. Orphan was definitely one of those that I didn't expect to be so DAMN GOOD just played solo.. which brings up another subject!! The NEW CD!!! I have only gotten a chance to listen to the 1st 5 songs, and it's awesome. Darice, who produced this thing?? It sounds GREAT! I totally love how Orphan is done on the CD. Great Job guys. It will definitely be in constant rotation in my car for a long, long time. Tomorrow, I'll get a chance to check out In The Mourning on my way to work... & Carla, no.. I did not forget to buy you your copy. ;-) You need to move to the states girl!!! :-) Oh by the way, make sure you send me your address again, I won't lose it this time. That's all out of me. I need some sleep. I can't believe Darcie/Patty is OVER! After the years of speculation, and the hopes & the dream that tonight would one day come true,.. it not only came true, but it's now here & gone. What a great night it was! *darcie, cover your eyes for this part..* Getting to see your 2 favorite singers in the world, on the same stage, in the SAME NIGHT does not usually happen in most people's lifetimes. I truly feel fortunate to be able to see such a thing along with the many great people who made the trip from all over the state just to see this! Congratulations Darcie on doing such an amazing job, and living your dream of opening for your IDOL! Another thing that 99.9999% of the people in this world will never get to do.
