But be assured, I'm taking to both of them very quickly. I follow lots of folk/acoustic/singer/songwriters and was happy to add Les Sampou to my collection after hearing 'String of Pearls' on a local radio show - that song blew me away. I love being able to buy a CD strictly on the basis of one song only to find that the entire CD upholds that quality. I was lucky to find both 'Les Sampou' and 'Fall from Grace' in the used CD bin at my local (mostly independent labels) record store. After one listen I was aghast that anyone would have returned the CDs for store credit! I examined her touring schedule with my breath held, hoping against hope that she would be somewhere close by. Alas, the closest she'll be to my zip code would involve a trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula - not that I don't think she'd be worth it, but I'm hoping that the Ark in Ann Arbor, MI will discover her and book her there. She'd fit right in! (warning - Les-less item follows - but in the spirit of promoting independent live music everywhere....) Besides, on 9/18 I'm already travelling to Goderich, Ontario just to see (for the first time) another favorite artist named Connie Kaldor. Connie is Canadian, and usually can be found in Saskatchewan and Manitoba and far-flung places like that, so Ontario's probably as close as I'll find her! Between this trip and a few other artists whose concert tickets I've already shelled out money for, I'm afraid a road trip to Escanaba on 11/5 is out of the question !! So, until the Ark wises up and books her, I'll content myself with her CDs and items posted to this board, and experience Les vicariously through you all. I hope those of you on the east coast know just how lucky you are in terms of live musical venues. Wouldn't it be nice to be independently wealthy and just travel the world having one peak musical experience after another! Since the theme here is LesTalkMoreMusic, guess I'd better shut up now.
