Read on... Holy Land: Contains my favorite lyric of all Les' songs, maybe all songs: > "when the days dragged by like a wounded dog in the Delta dirt of broken > dolls". Somebody should find out what *that's* all about! Les says: I am trying to evoke the image of southern poverty, the stifling heat and pain of a day that drags by endlessly, never seeming to die. The broken dolls are the broken are remnants of the protaganist's childhood metaphorically speaking...The image of dolls, dirty and with legs missing in some junkyard of a house speaks to me of this woman's childhood who lives in this godforsaken trailer park she never-the-less can't seem to leave because of family legacy (roots), lethargy, fear, no known talent or drive (as her slideplaying boyfriends has the luck to possess..) Hope that give you some insight Mike!! Have a good weekend all!! jodi ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Apr 1999 13:41:02 EDT From: SampouK@aol.com Subject: [lestalkmoremusic] Re: lestalkmoremusic-digest V1 #5 Mike and Jodi, Excellent choices of your favs....It really is tough narrowing it down isn't it?...I hope more people out there will come forward and be heard...By the way Mike, I'm not that same Kate from the song.....I'm just another big fan like you... ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Apr 1999 14:11:02 -0400 From: morse@his.com Subject: Re: [lestalkmoremusic] Re: lestalkmoremusic-digest V1 #5 >I hope more people out there will come forward and be heard... Anyone know how many of us are on this list? It's still at our "cozy" stage, but we are hoping to pick up some new members after the release of the new CD!!! I suggest that you pass the word along to others that might not know that we exist yet. Obvoiusly you are here because you are a fan of Les' and other indie music like this, so i would think that you (all of you) would like to see Les become more well known and I believe that a chat list will help get the word out. FYI Les is now touring with road buddy Tom Young, guitarist extraordinaire from the instrumental duo, "Acousticity." He was recommended to Les by Jim Sargent of the Homegrown Coffeehouse in Needham, MA and when the two met, musical sparks flew....He'll be at Passim next week, and the Uncommon and UMASS gigs this weekend....to start.. If any of you are planning on being at any of these shows, please post a review. I personally have not seen the duo yet, but am curious to know if there really are sparks!! Check out Les' web site or Musi-cal for up-coming shows in your area. Thanks for chatting!!
