Let's see. Your e-mail address is SampouK@aol.com, your name is Kate, and your 2nd favorite song is "Ride the Line". You *must* be the Kate in the song! My favorites (couldn't stop at five): China Town: Most passionate, sensual song I've ever heard. (Hope I haven't misinterpreted it!) Home Again: When I first heard this, I figured nobody ever told Les that there's only so much you can say in a three-minute song. It would take a chapter in a book to invoke as much imagery. Holy Land: Contains my favorite lyric of all Les' songs, maybe all songs: "when the days dragged by like a wounded dog in the Delta dirt of broken dolls". Somebody should find out what *that's* all about! Ride the Line: Like Home Again, it's incredible how Les invokes such rich images with so few words. Fly: My favorite of the new CD. Genuinely inspiring. Flesh and Blood: This is a great song on a subject that you wouldn't think anybody would touch (our own human failings). Gives me goose bumps just thinking about it. - --Mike (Garrett Park, Maryland) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Apr 1999 20:07:40 EDT From: Radnj@aol.com Subject: [lestalkmoremusic] Fav 5 Hey Y'all I like this thread....thanks to Kate for breaking the ice! I, like Mike (welcome by the way ;)) don't know if I could stop at five, but here are my picks: 1)Petals of a daisy 2) Skip to My Lou (after hearing the intro to this song many times, I always get a kick out of this one....Les has played our house concert series 2 times and our audience never fails to request this one) 3) Home Again (still gives me chills) 4) String of Pearls (tears EVERYTIME) 5) Flesh and Blood and now i must add some from the new disc....i have had a copy of this new CD for a long while now and still Never tire of it!! 6) Hangin By a Thread 7) Baby and finally..... 8) FLY It is too hard to narrow it down to even 8 choices, with 3 CD's of greatness to choose from. Although i treasure these little masterpieces, I still prefer Les' live shows. She packs so much emotion into her live performances. I can't wait to see her again (and again)... If any of you on this fine list are in the South Jersey area, Les has a show coming up in Voorhees, NJ at this great little cafe called the Coffee Works. The date is April 26th at 7:30p. I would love to meet some of you there if possible. If you need further details you can contact me via e-mail. I don't think the Coffee Works has a web-site avail. yet. You can also call the Coffee Works for more details and directions @ (609) 784-5282. Stop on by...and say hello!!
