have i become the very thing i despise, an e-noodge? very sorry and i promise this is the last email of 2000. there are four issues i need to speak on. here's the table of contents so you can skip those that don't apply to your geographical situation. bad news first: 1. 11/29 and 12/17 shows CANCELLED 2. new live EP "oddlot" ordering info! 3. passim shows right around the corner! 4. do not miss ms. folk america! 1. november 29 show in providence and december 17 show in nyc CANCELLED: i am terribly sorry to say that my show at the met TONIGHT has been cancelled...my last-minute providence karma continues. also, due to circumstances beyond my control, i won't be playing at the bitter endin nyc on sunday, december 17. there's a good chance i'll be back there in early january though so stay tuned. sorry about any kinks this may cause to your concert-going plans! 2. yes: there is a new record. this is NOT the new full-length studio album which i still expect out in late spring. it is and EP named "oddlot" which means basically a random assortment of odds and ends, which is exactly what this album is. it features the new songs "marylou," "garden rose," and a crazed version of "mean old wind," as well as old chestnuts "red herring" and "moscow song" and two covers, buck owens' "cryin' time" and gillian welch's "tear my stillhouse down." all recorded at various times in quite a range of live situations, from solo radio performances to full-on riotous band happenings. the sound quality is, shall we say, less than crisp, and there remain all the charming surprises (aka screw-ups) that make a live performance what it is. i think of it as a souvenir of a collection of moments that i find worth remembering, and a little holiday present for you folks who, after all, are really the ones responsible for the magic of the live experience. i know, because i've played these songs by myself in my living room plenty of times, and there's really no comparison... but wait: this album is not available in any store! (i am working on the late-night infomercial as we speak) you can get it at shows or most certainly through the mail, just send a check for $8 per CD (make checks out to kris delmhorst) to me at big bean music, po box 440283, somerville, ma, 02144. i should have them by dec. 8 and we'll begin shipping them out on the 10th, so order at will. and speaking of shows... 2. my passim shows on december 8 and 9 are now officially the "oddlot" CD release shows, which makes them even a little more exciting for me. fates willing, we'll have them there hot off the press and going mighty cheap! i really look forward to these nights and hope you'll be there with me, especially since three shows is a lot of people to round up! bring friends. the friday night show will be graced with opener deb talan, saturday's first show will be launched by adrienne, and the late show saturday will probably remain openerless in the name of sanity. make sure you make reservations at 492-7679 and i'll see you there! 3. this saturday at the somerville theater is the completely mandatory Ms Folk America pageant, a rock opera composed by my friend and satirical genius, Faith Soloway. even if you've witnessed faith's rock operas before, this one is a much bigger can of beans, on the big stage and all, and involving many more surprise celebrity cameos and filmed segments interspersed throughout the live action. the contestants are myself and folk divas catie curtis, jennifer kimball, meg toohey, mary gauthier, and faith, engaging in brutal competition for the ms folk america tiara. we are all doing our best to make complete fools of ourselves (and largely succeeding, i might add) and it is a ONE TIME ONLY event so make sure you make reservations and don't miss it! Come share the insanity with us! December 2nd - one show only - 8:00 PM The Somerville Theater is located at 55 Davis Sq, Somerville. For more information contact the theater at 617-625-5700, or Songstreet productions at 617-628-3390. okay kids that's it! happy home stretch of 2000 and have sweet & safe holidays, *kris ----------------------------------------------------------------- to order appetite (1998 cd) send a check for $15 to big bean music po box 440283, west somerville, mass, 02144. ideas on clubs/schools/coffeehouses near you that might be good places to play? radio stations that might be interested in playing me? etcetera? this kind of info is always awesome; feel free to email me at krisdelm@aol.com if you have notions. thanks y'all ------------ www.krisdelmhorst.com ------------ to remove yourself from this list, send a letter to: Majordomo@swiftmail.com. in the body of the message, write: unsubscribe krisgigs or to get back on the list, write: subscribe krisgigs to talk to a real person instead, write to: owner-krisgigs@swiftmail.com
