The reason is to thank and wish Joni a happy birthday not as a vague presence but more personally. This is in keeping with what some of her close friends told several of us a few years ago. They said since Joni quit performing, she doesn't see her fans any more and get the personal input and acknowledgement from them that she used to. They said it does her good to see and hear from people that appreciate her. They made this possible at Ruby Lake several years ago. She had a great time seeing and meeting fans.
