McNamara" Subject: RE: J MITCHELL turbulent indigo FULL ALBUM This is really in the top 3 of my favorite Joni albums ... with Hejira and whatever I'm listening to at the time!! Probably Blue. But I love TI because it demonstrates a clear sonic picture of Joni's miraculous guitar style ... including a masterful right hand, incredibly innovative tunings (Magdalene Laundries, TI, and Last Chance Lost especially) and her continuing unmatched songwriting skills ... My God still blown away each time I listen to it. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-joni@smoe.org [mailto:owner-joni@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Bob.Muller@Fluor.com Sent: Tuesday, October 13, 2015 8:18 AM To: Barbara Sullivan Cc: joni@smoe.org Subject: Re: J MITCHELL turbulent indigo FULL ALBUM I remember getting this CD and really being blown away and surprised by it. I picked it up from the BMG music club after it won a Grammy (for "Best Pop Vocal Album"). Certainly not what I'd call POP music, especially in terms of lyrics and subject matter. A very angry and violent record, but musically for me it was a return to the softer more acoustic sound of Hejira. I did love the sound of the record. Contains a rare cover (How Do You Stop) and a rare co-written song (Yvette). This album has aged very well for me, though I've never been fond of "Not To Blame".
