Except to his list of shortcomings I think she also said he had bad breath! :-)" I have virtually every Joni album ever recorded but not a single Dylan record. During the 1998 tour, I still re-live the Van Morrison and Joni Mitchell sets, and don't regret leaving the venue as Dylan began playing. He just doesn't do it for me. I grant you his place as the seminal singer-songwriter can't be denied, but man did she (Joni) raise the bar with such style, sophistication, and raw truth and emotion. Scott" I tend to agree with you, Scott. I too have walked out of a few shows in my life, for different reasons. For example, I walked out on Elton John at MSG because the sound was so terrible. And, I decided not to attend the Jackson Browne set when he opened for Joni at Carnegie Hall in Feb. 1972 - no regrets on that one, but no offense, either, since that concert was a religious pilgrimage for me, not to be despoiled. However, the 6 CDs in my car at the moment include 3 Jonis (Court and Spark, Blue and Turbulent Indigo), Jackson Browne's greatest hits (first CD), Blood on the Tracks and Abbey Road - all on shuffle. I suggest you all try something like that, to get a sense of song quality and sound quality. Pick something other than Abbey Road, which loses a lot in the shuffle, to say the least. But though I like that Dylan album, as a musician he is decidedly less masterful than some of the others in that rota - and it shows up when juxtaposed like that. ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2015 #461 ***************************** ------- To post messages to the list, sendto joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:joni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe -------
