I've seen several of your videos and watch more as time allows. Its just that some Joni songs are relatively easy to play. Someone at one of Ashara's Jonifests said Joni lets the guitar do the work. The guy that sang "All i Want" substituting the line "wreck my nylons" with "wreck my Jockeys" in a juke box dance. I forget his name. Black Crow is easier to play than Freight Train, at least for me. There are still Joni songs I haven't really nailed, like Ladies of the Canyon with all those hammer ons. I think I'm going to finally order that Complete guitar book. B And I still want to learn her piano songs.B Jeff On Friday, August 21, 2015 10:10 AM, Susan E. Only a week playing electric and I already want to play with fuzz boxes!! Its an example, someone said, of Joni "letting the guitar do the work" meaning once you get it into its tuning, its pretty simple to play, mostly single finger bar chords. Its fun to slide from 7 to 12th fret, then go to bar 8, then back down to one. Sounds so cool and is so easy anyone could do it! Larry Carlton I think is The Man. I usually say hes my favorite electric guitar player via his Joni stuff, those great Steely Dan solos (i.e., Kid Charlemagne). When his guitar comes in on Help Me as she sings "freedom" gives me total goose bumps and love the fade out. Now that we know Obama is a Joni fan perhaps he could have some sway in getting her a Kennedy Center honor next year, his final year in office. Somebody should run in by him. And Robert Plant could sing BSN at the ceremony. I have to think Obama would enjoy a lot of Joni's stuff (Dog Eat Dog) if he ever heard it. Maybe when he retires he could join the list.JeffNP Jeff Bridges, Cr! azy Heart ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2015 #450 ***************************** ------- To post messages to the list, sendto joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:joni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe -------
