Steven Pinker gave a very interesting TED talk where he argues that human violence has continually declined since hunter-gatherer days. Studies found that in recent hunter-gatherer societies, between 15 and 60% of males died from violence. The odds today of dying from violence are as low as they have ever been. There are too many horrible things happening in the world today. I would definitely like to go without any news, except for the weather report. If anyone thinks that's hiding my head in the sand, then so be it. I have no control over what goes on elsewhere in the world. Hell, I have no control over what goes on in my own home most of the time. It is too hard seeing the news when it's mostly bad and nothing I can do about it.
