Laurie has hit a home run here. Laurie has taken many of the songs from WAY before the jazz era Joni and made them into beautiful original creations that I am truly impressed with. David Lahm did the same thing with a few early Joni tracks like The Fiddle and The Drum, Blonde in the Bleachers, and Ladies of the Canyon, but doing them instrumental and doing them with vocals is really the key here. Her vocals are amazing and she really hints at the original melody while making her own way and keeps it compelling and very appealing. Stand out tracks for me so far are: Eastern Rain, Barangrill, and Woman of Heart and MInd. The album has been in heavy rotation since I got it last week. Laurie I wish you alot of success and hope to be able to hear you do these songs live sometime. Hopefully someone steps up to the plate and does a JoniFest in the near future.... Come on all you would be festival producers!!!!!
