I like a lot of that stuff too and I've bought albums or listened to music because you (or a few other people whose taste I appreciate) happen to mention it. I LOVE Fleet Foxes and Father John Misty, as well as a Canadian band called The Acorn (especially their Glory Hope Mountain album). I'm always interested in hearing new bands, even if the excitement I feel on listening to them isn't as great as it was when I was younger. ________________________________ From: "Bob.Muller@Fluor.com" I am of course a ginormous consumer of music and especially NEW music. A lot of what I like the best (Indie Rock etc) is not as well-liked by this group so I'm not going to go on and on about The War On Drugs, Parquest Courts, Cloud Nothings, but when something like Croz drops, I'll mention it here because it's right in this group's wheelhouse. Similarly, new bands like Fleet Foxes (who bring to mind classic CSN/Simon & Garfunkel/Beach Boys sounds) should also get their due here. I always sigh when Baby Boomers bemoan new music and cling to the music of their own rites of passage, as their parents did and their parents did. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 9 Jul 2014 08:35:09 -0400 From: Bob.Muller@Fluor.com Subject: Re: "CSNY 1974" drops tomorrow, njc On your recommendation I bought Croz, and I do think it's a great album of considerable taste. > Thanks for that Anita...I am of course a ginormous consumer of music and especially NEW music. So one of the bridges between the two is when someone like Bonnie/Jackson/Crosby/Neil puts out an outstanding new release. I think subconsciously it makes us feel like "if they've still got it than so do I". The group also lost me in around 1974 after seeing some just awful performances on TV a couple times back then. I remember wondering what happened to their beautiful voices and was surprised they would even do live performances in such a state. They brought me back a bit with their 1977 CSN "Sailboat" album. When I finally saw them all live for the first time in 2000, I was shocked by their incredible performances and how good they sounded. Saw another incredible show in around 2003 and they were better than ever. By the way, Jim, as a kid I traveled half way across the U.S. in one of those 9 passenger station wagons with two sets of aunts and uncles and three cousins ;-) Kakki ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 7 Jul 2014 17:26:38 +0000 From: "Susan E. I didn't realize who he was till he said he met Cold Specks at the Joni tribute in Toronto, then I remembered him. He was part of the fabulous horn section that also included Melvin Butler on sax. Oh to relive that day again! I can't say that ANY of the tracks I heard sounded good. If I was an uber-fan I'd be really excited. What I AM excited about is the album Croz dropped this year...truly excellent.
