Or do you think we would count as the fans that she is thoroughly bored with? Why can't we organize a get -together months ahead (since some of us would need to travel from afar, and everyone has to plan and get organized), with the assurance of Joni that she will attend. Then of course it might be impossible to get hold of her....no wonder it is the destiny of these stars get lonely if they end up having to take recourse to complete isolation from the public in order to have manageable lives. So, IF someone can get hold of her, why don't we consider this as a possibility? ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Jun 2014 15:54:16 -0400 (EDT) From: Paul Ivice Subject: Re: onlyJMDL Digest V2014 #210 From: Ingrid Lochrenberg Subject: Later stuff I have decided that I like Joni's later music far more than the earlier songs, as they are so peppered with percussive rhythms. I think it's probably her incredible sense of rhythm combined with her lyrics that most distinguishes her from other musicians. Also, the words become more speculative and more interesting. I would never criticize anyone for liking any of Ms. Mitchell's music, but I would suggest yours is a minority opinion. If I recall correctly, you came upon Joni's music later in her career. I would be surprised if anyone who discovered her music at or before the Blue album, and watched Joni progress from folk to rock to jazz, would feel the same way. Personally, other than Night Ride Home, I don't find anything from Dog Eat Dog onward compelling. Mingus and Wild Things Run Fast are pretty much the last of her works I ever listen to. I would be curious, though, is there anyone who came on board Joni's music early in her career or because of her music up to and including C&S who likes her later stuff more? You have the musical skills, plus you're great with children. You'll be close to Cassy & Brad, and possibly meet Mark...which is a rarity amongst us all. You'll be closer to Joni too :) xoxo Jimmy PS Steve Dulson, sorry I copied Victor's entire post, but I'm on my iPhone. :-) NW, World's Cup Soccer.
