We all need someone who follows the celebrity stuff. (I read People magazine while waiting for the dentist or doctor, if they have those magazines there. My ophthalmologist only has friggin' golf and business magazines, so nothing to read there!) I'm not much of a fan of The Band either. I own "The Last Waltz" because of Joni and because it's almost expected that people of my generation should have that (plus "Big Pink".) What's up with a group of mostly Canadians trying to sound like they're southern US guys from some time around the Civil War? At least, I think that's what they're doing, but maybe that's because I've heard "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" a million times (rarely by choice.) While we're at it, I don't get Chaka Khan either. There. I said it. So sue me. Goodness knows, I've tried in the case of both The Band and Ms Khan, but it just ain't happenin'. ________________________________ From: Lindsay Moon To: Joni List Sent: Thursday, June 19, 2014 8:37:59 PM Subject: Joni mention in Entertainment Mag Leave it to me, the List celebrity junkie, when I found the following reading the June 27 issue of Entertainment Weekly an article called "26 Movies Every Young Actress Should See," which is a discussion by actors Mark Ruffalo, Catherine Keener about which movies 17-year-old actress/co-star Hailee Steinfeld should know about: #22 - The Last Waltz, 1978, "For me, that movie was Joni Mitchell blowing everybody away," Keener says. "I wanted Hailee to see that kind of raw power and talent." To that I say, "Take that, you drunken bunch of Band members" (really, it was all I could do to sit through their ridiculous drunken interviews to get to Joni who, yes, blew everyone away. To me, Robbie Robertson just kept staring at her thinking, "What the hell is she playing?" Hahaha.) Personal opinion! (Please don't blast me if you love The Band). The venue is fairly new and I have not yet gotten myself there, so maybe this is the night for it. If anyone from the area decides to go please let me know. I simply had to buy a magazine this week which boasted the story"My husband had two heads". Full of celeb gossip and unpleasantly gratuitous stories, I did buy it. There, I'm out. At the same time, I never got the Band, but always loved Rufus with Chaka. Anita > On 20 Jun 2014, at 12:33, Catherine McKay wrote: > > Hurray for Lindsay!
