Promises to be lots of deep tracks. I'll bet my 401K that Two Grey Rooms is on it. Chaka has already covered Ladies Man, Man From Mars, and Hejira, the former was released on her 2007 album "Funk This", MfM comes from a live DVD release from 2000, the latter was recorded for Reprise's "A Case Of Joni" tribute project which was shelved. Some of those tracks eventually saw the light but not Hejira. Of course, JMDLer's have it in their collections on Volume 110. Perhaps Chaka can get Miss Joni to come out and contribute some background sounds to the project. That would be pretty cool. Happy hump Day Hippies! It'll appear on #197. It's not likely to scoop me on a BSN cover, unless it's recorded in a non-English language using a different title or if it's from a very localized release. I'm much more likely to be scooped on a deep track, for instance just today David Gizara told me about a Come In From The Cold cover released in February. I was excited because that's the first CIFTC cover in the database! Bob NP: Muddy Waters, "I Just Want To Make Love With You" From: "ron" To: "'Steve Harper'" , "'The JMDL! It does appear in the list of covers on the website. I checked a week or 2 ago when I came across it on youtube. Mary fahl, formerly of October project, was fabulous last night at red Clay theater in Duluth Georgia (For those of you who remember Eddie's Attic it's Eddie Owen's new place.) Bob M, is it a foregone conclusion that you are aware of her excellent cover of BSN? ;) Steve in Atlanta Sent from my iPhone - ----- No virus found in this message. Chaka was at Jazz Fest and got less than stellar reviews except by the extreme faithful. I look forward to hearing this. And music and the genuinely gifted, such as myself, and there aren't a lot in any generation, being shunned from the airwaves in favor of tits-and-ass bubble gum kind of junk food is a tragedy." - Joni Mitchell "As you may know I had the huge good fortune to meet and come to know Joni as a friend in 1966, 2 years before she made her first album... and there's something I want to share with you. (again) Joni traveled all over the country back then, by bus and train and I think she even hitched sometimes. She lived on very little... Just look at the cover charge on this ad for our club where she played and that's with a headcount of about 60 SRO. Do the math: (AD SHOWING COVER CHARGE AS $1.50) My point is there were these agents who came whenever she played always trying to get backstage to talk to her and Joni tasked me with keeping them away from her. She explained to me that all they wanted was to get her to sign what she called an 'Elvis contract', meaning a standard contract which bound the artist to a certain number of singles and albums per year… and Joni just would NOT subject herself and her ART to this kind of assembly line business, so you see, she has had this adversarial relationship with the music business since the beginning. She could have been riding high and sitting pretty long before she did on her own terms, all she had to do is sign. No… not Joni Mitchell. I have always had the greatest respect for her because of this."
