In honor of RIAA Internet stream restrictions (inject sarcasm here) I''m unofficially theming it the "3" show. So I picked what I thought were the strongest Joni projects and picked three from each plus I'll play cuts that writers say were inspired by Joni (e.g. Akinmusire's Asiam (Joan). A special treat will be an advance preview of one of Lauri Antonioli"s Joni covers from her this summer release "Songs of Shadow, Songs of Light" scheduled for August 19th on Origin Records. As a bonus edition I'm thinking I will feature cuts from the Lebanese singer/songwriter Yasmine Hamdan thrown in. As always, I thank the maestro, Bob Muller for his help. Also, BTW check out the French group Balval for a cool sound out of Paris. Thanks, David Gizara Thursday Night Jazz Host KLCC, 89.7 FM Eugene, OR, USA NPR for Oregonians davidgizara@epud.net www.klcc.org - like Thursday Night Jazz KLCC on facebook, please.
