It was filmed before a hometown crowd (Boston, WGBH, "James Taylor In Concert", 69 minutes, 1988/1991, ISBN 1-56406-098-5). Back then, the audience was packed with hot college girls. Anyway... It is just a lowly stereo VHS tape but, man, that was a pretty cool era. Watching it now, I noticed that Lee Sklar was slapping his bass. I think he picked it up from funk players, right? It meant nothing to me at the time but I can pick out more of the Motown influence. If I recognize the faces correctly, he was touring with Arnold McCuller and Valerie Carter, even then. I just looked up the credits for "Gorilla" on allmusic.com. Holy cow, all of the people on that record were big names.
