Lori Caldwell, Idaho ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 17 May 2015 10:18:43 -0600 From: Lori Renee Fye Subject: smoe breakdown > Is smoe having a nervous breakdown? Entirely possible. I recall Les advising us that smoe.org has been "unattended" for quite some time now (years). We're kind of flying on a wing and a prayer. Eventually, if smoe.org really is unattended, its servers will fail. It's probably a good idea to come up with an alternate plan. We've talked about that for a long time but, so far, I don't think anyone has come up with a "real" alternate plan. There's Facebook, of course, but not everyone wants to use FB. Unless we can perhaps provide our own server(s) we're probably facing an eventual demise of this email group. The only "quick fix" I can think of -- being not particularly computer savvy myself -- would be to collect everyone's email addresses and copy everyone on every message. However, I don't think most email servers will allow for 1,200 (or whatever the number) email addresses per message. Thoughts? Suggestions? That stuff that woman is wearing is not of the kind that Joni Mitchell would wear, ever. Besides, that's not her hair colour and not her haircut. As reference, here is the link to the photo: https://goo.gl/E91ZOV The picture was taken at the Sixth Annual Renaissance Pleasure Faire in Agoura, CA which according to this report http://www.thedoorsguide.com/film/feast0504.html was held "on weekends from May 4-19, 1968". According to http://jonimitchell.com/chronology/complete.cfm, Joni Mitchell was performing in Toronto, Canada, at that time. moni k. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 17 May 2015 12:38:06 -0400 From: Bob Muller Subject: Re: Question about The Last Waltz bootleg Well, technically Joni sang with Neil on that. :-) Bob Sent from my iPhone > On May 17, 2015, at 12:26 PM, "Susan E. I agree in this case since we've never been able to attach photos in this listserv. However, servers do fail. Anyone who has had a hard drive fail knows that all too well. Servers are typically "heavier duty" but they don't last forever. Some "data geek" among us must have a list of everyone's email addresses. How up-to-date that list may be is anyone's guess but I know there have been JMDLers who have saved every digest and who have the earlier ones that don't show on http://www.smoe.org/lists/joni/ I'm just thinking ahead. We really should have a back up plan in place. Maybe we do and I just don't know about it?
