NJC Hi Mary, The good news is that everyone can be right. Les states right here: http://jonimitchell.com/network.cfm That the JMDL was born in 1995. I think Les knows better than anyone. Given that fact, the messages may not have really gotten started until your recollection. I can't vouch for anything as I joined up in late '97. The webarchive "Wayback Machine" shows the page starting in 1996. Les may have initiated things in '95, however. My hunch is that we are both right and that's always a good way to end up. On this one, I'm going with mine. Les??! According to Jonimitchell.com, probably a trusted source, here's what it says about the origins of the JMDL. Joni Mitchell Discussion List - JMDL "The grandaddy...excuse us...the Mama Lion of them all, this is the traditional email-based JMDL. Founded in 1995, we are still over a thousand strong." The truth is out there, you just have to look. Most times it's remarkably simple. But my recollection, as one who was nearly (but not quite) there from Day 1, is that the first post set sail into the ether on August 25, 1996, about three weeks before I first subscribed. That would make the list about to enter its last teen year this August. And, re: Joni's video: yes, my heart does dare to lift! Looking forward to hearing much more about what sounds like a wonderful evening, Mary. - - ------------------------------------------------------------ The information transmitted is intended only for the person or entity to which it is addressed and may contain proprietary, business-confidential and/or privileged material. The Lilies also ask to let folk know, so that's what I thought I'd do and so, if you have a few dollars, euros or pounds or whatever lying around without a home, you might consider throwing it the Lilies way. I know quite a few of us here already have supported the Lilies because we know they are fab, http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/boxcarlilies Anita xx ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 7 May 2015 12:37:02 -0400 From: "Jim L'Hommedieu" Subject: About a girl, njc When my mum was in a coma for about two weeks, following head trauma, the news was that we just had to wait. There was no way to know if she was going to ever wake up. There was no way to know if she would be the same, even if she did wake up. She lived on for more than ten years but she... had profound deficits. This experience is not predictive of any other patient, of course. But we might have to get accustomed to not knowing.
