Would that document be similar to various powers of attorney (for example, here in Ontario, there are powers of attorney for property - continuing or non-continuing; and for personal care)? It makes sense to have one of these in the event something happens to you where you are unable to make decisions: appoint someone now that you trust who, based on your wishes and your best interest, will act for you to ensure your bills are paid, your care is, um, taken care of and so on. The situation was referred to as a "convervatorship," but seems similar to what I know as a guardianship, which is a relationship in which a court-appointed individual makes care decisions for someone *currently* unable to care for him- or herself, or make those decisions. And, as I mentioned, the TMZ piece apparently quoted sections of the documents, which refer to Joni's current condition. I haven't seen the documents myself. Not meaning to stir up the waters, but I remain concerned. My hope is that the articles I read were wrong, and that TMZ didn't quote any documents, but rather, made up its claims out of whole cloth.
