Long time ... > What the heck are you doing out in Caldwell, ID?! Oh ... longish story although I'll try to make it brief. I ditched my relationship of 12 years (and marriage of three years) and left California and went to North Dakota, where I lived and worked for five months, managing a weekly newspaper in a small town at ground zero of the oil boom that's going on in ND right now. My former partner (Mary) shipped some of my stuff to North Dakota and my best friend of 38 years (Trish; we met in 1977, literally due to Joni's album "Hejira") visited me in ND and took some of my stuff back to Caldwell with her. Trish is from Kentucky and Texas originally but she has lived in Idaho since 1981 or so. The rest of my stuff ended up in my car when I left North Dakota and meandered to Texas, where I left that stuff (and my car) at another longtime friend's house while I took off for Europe. I spent the last nine months of 2012 living in Wiesbaden, Germany and the first three months of 2013 living in Porthcawl, Wales. Meanwhile, more of my stuff was shipped to Caldwell. I returned to the USA in March 2013 and spent a month in Ohio and a few days in Pittsburgh, PA, and then flew out to Caldwell. It just seemed like a good plan since my stuff was all pretty much in Caldwell by then. I arrived in Caldwell in April 2013 and I've been here ever since, travel to various places notwithstanding. Caldwell is VERY conservative but I rarely leave the house and never discuss politics or religion with the neighbors. Otherwise I'm living as a liberal in plain sight in a nondescript house in an everyday American neighborhood and it works for me, at least for now. That's the short of it. Good to "see" you again, Mary P!
