Brave! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Apr 2015 11:42:30 -0400 From: "Jim L'Hommedieu" Subject: Who changed the words? In a sandwich shop, the singer interpreted BSN as >much is lost >and much is gained >in livin' ev'ry day This week, when they played "whiter shade of pale" on the radio, it sounded like the album version until the vocal went, "Though my eyes were open They might just as well been CLOSED." I guess they used an alternate vocal because the version I'm familiar went, "they might just as well been mute." It didn't make sense to say "mute" but it made you stop and listen. I liked it better the OLD way. Harrumph! I am doing a project with my students where they have to pick a two word phrase. Could you possibly think of some examples? We are doing a conforming circle project as a kind of advertisement that is combined with an optical illusion. (vocabulary associated, though you don't need to know this is: conform, non conformist, optical, optical illusion, illusion, contrast, etc.) So far my examples are: take action carpe diem and then I thought of some of my favorite hippie examples: far out flower power I like positive or expressive phrases of any kind. I would love joni phrases too. If you think of any, please respond. THANKS Marianne ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Apr 2015 20:31:17 +0100 From: Anita Gabrielle Subject: Re: Who changed the words? > I won't even mention Billy Squier's cover of River - he starts with "It's > comin' on twilight" and goes recklessly astray from there. > Bob Wasn't that Squier's famous BSN Zombie River Cut: " It's coming on twilight They're cutting off knees.... "Oors and Ploors of angel hair" And bing bong dung hills in the square? I don't think I've laughed so much for a while.
