So many great insights in this speech. I will probably listen to it a couple more times. Her discussion of the adoption and her marriage, the description of the meaning behind the cover to Hissing of Summer Lawns and her talk about the reading list at her home in BC (Socrates, Plato, Jung, Nietzsche, Buddhism) made me realize how long she's been thinking about her philosophies on the life of our planet and our relationship to everything ...... and I can't get the image out of my head of her 9-year-old self, meditating on the prairie as she smokes her first cigarette. I had also never heard of all the hiking and exploring she did with her parents, no wonder they had so much longevity!
