This subject makes me very sad, and it's not just because of Joni. I have had several people in my life who have suffered from undiagnosible chronic pain, and it's frightening to watch. They either get prescribed mounds of drugs and become like zombies, or they are denied medications because they are considered drug seekers. They are perceived as delusional or "crazy," but what came first, the chicken or the egg? It's baffling but our culture doesn't want to admit that there are limitations to what the human mind can know.
