I agree that people are just distracted, don't think, and get most things wrong. A Joni lyric that I've lived by for the last 35 or more years from "Amelia" is: "People will tell you where they've gone They'll tell you where to go But till you get there yourself you never really know" Steve From: JMDL Digest To: joni-digest@smoe.org Sent: Wednesday, April 15, 2015 5:00 PM Subject: JMDL Digest V2014 #2014 JMDL DigestB B B B Wednesday, April 15 2015B B B B Volume 2014 : Number 2014 ========== TOPICS and authors in this Digest: - -------- B Fountain of LightB B B B B B B B B B [Jeff Clark ] - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Wed, 15 Apr 2015 23:57:49 +0000 (UTC) From: Jeff Clark Subject: Fountain of Light There are three things I think about every day that I've culled from Joni. One is her saying that innocence is one of the "essences of life". That no matter how cynical and bitter you might become, its important to recognize the quality of innocence. I think she said that when she met her grandkids. I was thinking of when Les had lunch with her and she pointed out the birds nesting in the parking garage. How many people pay attention to stuff like that?Second is her concept of "crop rotation". How she rotates her hobbies and interests; if its not working in one area at any time, maybe its best to change gears and do something else. I can understand her reluctance to be pigeonholded in any way. And third, her understanding that "people always get everything wrong." In that CBC interview when he asks her if it bothers her that people call her a recluse, she just says "No, people get everything wrong. Whenever anyone gets anything right I'm amazed." I say that all the time. People in general don't listen well, are distracted, etc. And unless it involves lawyers, potential jail time, or significant amounts of money, it really dosen't matter. So thanks for all that Joni! Jeff - ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2014 #2014 ****************************** - ------- To post messages to the list,sendtojoni@smoe.org.
