Certain pieces of music absorb my attention almost to the point of where I can't hear them in a social setting and keep track of a conversation. Others induce tears, sometimes for no apparent reason other than just the beauty or ambience of their sounds. Of course, Joni has created more of these pieces of music that affect me this way than anyone else.
