They are just coming to terms with the news of Joni's illness, so perhaps we can mindful here on the list that those who personally know Joni don't feel able to comment at the moment. By 10:30 est tweets were furiously being loaded 30, 50, and then 100 at a time ... Many tweeted their favorite album or song while some called for prayers or just posted sad emojis ... But the majority of people were just frantic at the unconscionable thought that we might not be living in a world that had Joni Mitchell in it ... I believe this outpouring of love is restorative ... And I agree that this includes respect for the people close to her ... Let's hope that today we hear that Joni is out of the woods and we can all breathe a worldwide collective sigh of relief!!! The FDA will soon announce whether there is evidence of a breakthrough of sorts, enabling Duke University to seek corporate partners to market the treatment. It begs the question whether any epidemiologists have studied the limited numbers of folks who survived the polio epidemic in the 1940s and 50s to see incidence of cancers (or, absence thereof). Like Joni, most of these folks would be in their 70s. How wonderful it would be to consider that persons who have suffered and survived such an ordeal might be saved from another by way of that experience.
