Some of the latest news smacks of Madonna style outrageousness but is more disturbing because it seems petty and unworthy of what we've come to expect of Joni's humane character. I really don't want to believe the worst, so I'll keep this short:1. The raw sound of her first two records let the writing take center stage and gave her street cred for showcasing what she did best at the time. (I agree with Dave that Clouds is as bad or even worse, sonically.) 2. She should still be kissing Croz' ass for what he did for her. (Perhaps vice versa, also. He may have used his grace credits when his friends rallied to save his life.) Separately, so glad to hear Laurie will be performing at the SFJazz tribute.
