The accolades handed out at the Grammys make a even more of a mockery of the notion of discernment or judgement. I have realised long ago that competitions don't reward talent but home in on something which will be a populist choice. It is an achievement not to be recognised, and come last. So at no level are these people in these industries helping out with some genuine assessment of value. When schools and companies and colleges look for leadership qualities, they are looking for those young people that are conforming and exemplifying established values reflective of themselves. Leadership qualities is a joke. The Grammys and Oscars etcetera are superficial de lux. If Joni got something ever it would've been for her looks at the time, or her popularity, not for intrinsic value to her music. These accolades raining down upon her because it is unavoidable to recognise her is really something very strange..... No wonder she reminded the art gallery that she was doing them a favour.
