The Gabriel stuff was good and really weird but good. Trick of the Tail is great and is the perfect happy medium between the progressive Genesis and the song writing Genesis. The only other album that is, perhaps better is Seconds out and that is because it is loaded with Trick of the Tail songs being played live. I know what you mean by you think that hardcore Genesis fans would act like Gabriel is the "pure' Genesis, but we know better don't we. I'm sure that's blasphemous to the hard-core Genesis fans to pick a non-Gabriel record as my favorite. For the record, Lamb Lies Down is brilliant and I enjoy their entire run, even the weaker 80's stuff. After all it was the 80's, they couldn't help it. If you haven't heard of them, Elbow reminds me A LOT of Peter Gabriel and put out one of my favorite records of the year, "The Take Off And Landing of Everything". Brand X was a great band - there were a couple tracks I played to death, and the first purchase I ever made on I-Tunes was a Brand X song.
