In a recent message I mentioned two concerts that were recorded
for a proposed  'Live - In Concert' album.

     Feb. 1, 1969 - Carnegie Hall - New York, NY

     Feb. 14, 1969 - Zellerbach Auditorium - Berkeley, CA

Unfortunately that project was never completed and no Live Album was ever released.

I also mentioned 

     Webd have to wait some 40 years before we finally got a Live Album 
     from Joni's acoustic period, but thatbs the subject of another message.


Well, THAT concert is "Amchitka: The 1970 Concert That Launched Greenpeace"

Released in Nov. 2009, the 2 CD "Amchitka" Concert is now discontinued and no longer available,
as confirmed in a recent eMail exchange with Greenpeace International and Greenpeace-Canada.

Although the song 'Hunterb was regularly performed in 1969 and 1970,
the "Amchitkab Concert is the only released performance or recording.

At one time 'Hunterb was scheduled to be included on BLUE,
although it's actually an OutTake from LOTC.

I'd love another Fleet Foxes album too, but don't hold your breath, because Robin P has gone back to get his university degree. In the meantime, J. Tillman is doing his Father John Misty thing, and his stuff is well worth listening to as well. He has an amazing voice and he's quite a character. My kids saw him in concert a year or so ago and some people in the audience were being a-holes, so he ranted a bit about that, and then walked off the stage, and that was the end of it. 

I guess "White Winter Hymnal" is borderline Christmassy. At least it's wintery. I'm not sure if the lyrics mean anything, and am I wrong for getting a bit of a ghoulish feel from them - the bit about scarves getting their heads from falling down and someone named Michael falling and turning the snow red. It could be just a bunch of kids wearing red scarves running through the snow, so the one kid falls and that's what makes the snow red, but I always imagine someone falling from being shot or something and the red being blood. (Apparently it isn't supposed to mean anything though.) Gorgeous song and beautiful harmonies. We saw Fleet Foxes a few years ago at Massey Hall and you could hear a pin drop when they sang this. It was probably as close to perfect as anything I've ever heard.
