As someone who first encountered Joni in the folk clubs in 1967, I know that something was lost, as well as something gained, when she started performing with a band in 1974. There are others here who will tell you that those early Acoustic concerts were truly special. There was 'Magic' in the air, there were other aromas as well. Simon, I don't think Bob was making a judgment in describing those early albums as "stripped-down," merely stating a fact.
