The comments/reactions to these articles seem to be running 80-20 in Team Joni's favor, although it is troubling that some are falling for the spin. I thought that "open letter" from Bidini was ridiculously over the top and was wondering "wow, now who paid him?" It was so vituperative and disturbed me on first reading. Then again, I thought it was so full of unhinged hysteria and sense of faux betrayal, that Joni might actually have a good laugh over it. I was half expecting him to say he was now going to smash all his Joni records because she is so mean to Dylan and Lennon. Geez. I agree it never hurts anyone to be gracious and I sometimes wish Joni would self-censor herself just a tiny bit. On the other hand, there is probably a lot more she could be saying but is holding back, too. Was thinking today about how different Joni is perceived in media from how she is perceived in person by those who have met her in person. She may come off as prickly in print, but many, including myself have found her perfectly gracious, sharp and good humored in person. I think of another music artist whose talent I revered for years and who always came across smooth and slick in interviews but was a rude, nasty boor the few times I observed him in person over a number of years. Consistently nasty to everyone - his band, his audience and his fans. So I tend to go by what I see in person, rather than what I see in print or media. Thanks for sending the discussion from last year. I remember it but must have missed at the time that Joni asked Elliott Rogers to assist her with the negotiations for the movie project. I found that kind of sweet to hear. Kakki > It's the Star Maker machinery in action. And the star they're promoting > is Taylor Swift.
