Jonifest Laura, I'm definitely planning on having a Jonifest in Greenville, SC over Labor Day weekend 2015 (September 3-7). I think the area will lend itself well to the format established by Ashara, Mikey, Dave and others. Schedule looking to be as follows: Thursday, September 3 arrival and informal open-mike playing (can be done at nearby Cork and Tap or if I secure a "compound" like we had at the last New Orleans fest) Friday & Saturday activities - there's a LOT of nearby hiking and outdoors opportunities, there are several museums and other sightseeing things of interest, Falls Park downtown has a myriad of locations to see and do, open to other suggestions as well. Friday night - would ideally like to have performances by Dave & Robin and Laurie if any or both is possible. Performance space - The Bohemian, that features a nice stage/sound system attached to a full restaurant bar with all options of food and drink. Saturday night - would love to have a potpourri of local musicians do a Joni tribute ala what Mike's done at The Howling Wolf. I've got some contacts and know folks who have more. Would love to have this event at the venue that USED to be the Handlebar and will be reopening soon. Sunday would be open for whatever; some folks will be heading home, whatever else people want to see and do in the area. That's about what I've put together so far. Definitely open to suggestions! I feel like it's time for me to pay back to the folks who have hosted in the past and Upstate SC does have a lot to offer.
