I just came across a brand new book at the library about history of rock by a Brit whose name escapes me now, he discusses Joni briefly under the Laurel Canyon chapter and relays an anecdote, and its just gossip, but it with Joni and a very drunk Eric Andersen in the studio and Jimmy Webb drops by. Eric is quite rude to Jimmy, calling him Mr. Balloons (in reference to Up Up and Away) sort of implying Webb is "square" and associated with the likes of Glen Campbell rather than the ultra-cool Laurel Canyon scene. Again its just gossip, I'm sure Eric's a decent guy. But Joni has such class. That's why she's Siquomb! (The writer says Hissing is her best album) I think that album was very popular in Britain. (More so than in the States) I remember my first book ever on rock was by NME published in the late 70's and they also considered Hissing a high point.B B ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2014 #1282 ****************************** ------- To post messages to the list,sendtojoni@smoe.org.
