A most interesting conversation. As for "where did CSN first sing together?" Here's what Stephen Stills has says. STEPHEN STILLS She also did this one clever thing of getting me up to her house when Graham was going to be there and not telling me. SIMMY RICHMAN So it was her house! [For decades there have been various opinions as to whether Crosby Stills & Nash sang together for the first time at Elliots house, Joni Mitchells or somewhere else entirely] STEPHEN STILLS OK, so now everyones written their version Im going to have the last word. Graham was head over heels in love with Joni Mitchell and they were smoking some stultifying weed so theyve misremembered it. The fact is I would never have sung together for the first time in front of Joni Mitchell. I know myself well enough to know I would have been petrified. I would never have been able to function. We did it at Casss house and two days later we sang at Jonis to show off. But the first time was at Casss house as I am sitting here. Grahams book is coming out next so... Actually his book is quite charming and I dont hold anything against anyone elses memory but I have a smellophonic, stereophonic image of this thing and I can describe the house in vivid detail. It's a widely accepted fact that it occured at the home of Cass Elliott. andmoreagain, - - - - - - - - - - simonM ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 31 Jan 2014 04:06:51 -0500 From: simon@icu.com Subject: The CIA Betrayed Mandela Jim L'Hommedieu wrote >The New York Times built a 12 minute documentary about Mandela and it is not a whitewash: > http://youtu.be/wKbpqv-4Ku0 > > Jim, Whitewash? Crosby's career has been so linked to Joni that I would've thought this release would have gotten more attention here. Any time there's a news story about someone being arrested for a crime, or convicted of one, all the armchair critics tapping out messages on their computers instantly become judge and jury. Anything from who wore an outfit better to what kind of sentence you'd give someone convicted of killing their own child becomes fair game, and it brings out the nasty side of people (or maybe it brings mostly the nasty people out.) >________________________________ > From: Mark >To: Anita ; joni@smoe.org >Sent: Thursday, January 30, 2014 12:52:38 AM >Subject: Re: New Library item: Syracuse Professor Studies Joni Mitchell > > > >One thing that has occurred to me is how unfair it must be to a >celebrity when total strangers are able to recognize you. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Jan 2014 14:01:29 -0800 From: kbhla@fastmail.fm Subject: Re: Syracuse NJC now Croz Hi Bob, I've listened to the clips and it is wonderful! I always feel that his reunion and ongoing musical collaboration with his son James Raymond has been miraculous in some ways and has led to some remarkably beautiful work. I have ordered the CD because my two iPods are maxed out and I can't bear to delete anything to make more room ;-) Speaking of iPods, a friend was over recently and I had the iPod on shuffle. It started playing one of our middle of the night jam sessions at Idyllwild Jonifest and my friend said "wow, who is that? That is really good." I laughed and told him it was my Joni group gang. He couldn't believe it so I played him all the other cuts from that "session" and he kept saying "wow, that is REALLY good." LOL I just kept laughing and then kind of bragged "yeah, and just imagine how good we sound when we haven't been up for days and night partying." I also let him know that the great talents of Dave, Kay, Angela and Paz carried us a long way on those particular cuts ;-) Kakki On Thu, Jan 30, 2014, at 05:38 AM, [1]Bob.Muller@Fluor.com wrote: Kakki, Have you heard this new one from David Crosby?
