The last time I saw a review like that the only response the artist had was "Thanks Mom.". Congratulations again Laurie! "Ms. Mitchell has made it her business to write wickedly difficult chord changes to suit her wickedly difficult melodies. Her lyrics are written in the vers libre, without rhyme, but full of inner rhymes and rhythms. Her guitar is tuned differently. She plays in odd metres on a shifting rhythmic base. And that is only part of it. But two attempts to make Joni Mitchell's music anew have been hugely successful. The first is Herbie Hancock's partly instrumental one, River: The Joni Letters and now the amazing recording by the ineffable Laurie Antonioli - Songs of Shadow, Songs of Light. Do you think it was the same ferry? The ferry was so merry with all those sweet Canadians. I'm there again rockin on the gentle rolling waves. O'Canada! I call shotgun again! And this time I'm staying for some Seattle's Best on the rebound. BTW, did hell freeze over, or did you and/or Pearl finally smoke it? Ya'll are so not friend's of Bill like I am. See who's still thinking about it? The one who loves you... It was linked to my Facebook profile, and now I will fully embrace this name which was chosen with only aesthetic considerations in-mind. So please try to make the shift and call me Peta-Bana, as my destiny is now intertwined with this name, and I hope will be shaped by it, as the name will acquire my characteristics, I predict. So, yes, it makes sense that the Ruby Lake Jonifest will only take place on 1 July 2016, so that all can anticipate it and all arrive there on the day. By that time what-'s-name will have caught wind of it as well, and probably come sailing there through the blue. Much love to all Peta-Bana ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 7 Aug 2014 09:36:00 +0200 From: Ingrid Lochrenberg Subject: Don't understand There is an ad hoc way of listing posts, and for sure, in my case, it leads to a misrepresentation of what I try to say (and in some cases will not say again). Sent from my Windows Phone ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 5 Aug 2014 07:41:54 -0400 From: M Jones Subject: Joni/Bootleg Recordings Hi All, I'm trying to track down a couple of bootlegs. First, is the 1983 Verona concert, sometimes called Dreams Are Shivering Down My Spine. A second that I've found on a list randomly posted online is called Lights Out in Georgia and has a song with the same title as the first track. Any help with either or both (to make an accidental but appropriate nod to a Phoebe Snow tune....) would be most appreciated.
