I just wanted to let you know that I performed at Woodford Folk Festival (Aussie version of Woodstock) over Christmas/NY - including a very special concert called Ladies of the Canyon. The concert involved six songwriters from all corners of the globe sharing the stage and taking turns at singing their favourite Joni song - as well as a song of their own. I was scheduled to sing 'The Last Time I Saw Richard' towards the end of the concert. I sat patiently, listening to all the beautiful renditions - A Case of You, Little Green, River, This Flight Tonight... and finally it was my turn! It felt like the entire audience was hanging off each lyric. I was in heaven. But as I approached the "I'm gonna blow this damn candle out" part of the song, a group of Hare Krishnas decided to parade past the venue - beating drums and chanting loudly. Can you believe it?! I contemplated stopping the song and launching into a Joni-rant ("there were tourists who were getting into it like Indians and Indians who were getting into it like tourists") but opted for the close-your-eyes-and-keep-singing approach instead. Think I won over a few fans for keeping my shit together despite the passing parade! I wanted to share a review of the concert with you: "Hailed as one of the best concerts of the Woodford Folk Festival, the Ladies of the Canyon featured Leah Flanagan and Ange Takats from Australia, Canadians Rose Cousins, Mo Kenney and Kim Wempe and Scottish songstress Rachel Sermanni. Further strengthening the ties between Woodford, Canada and Scotland, the ladies wowed audiences with their appreciation for Joni Mitchell, sharing Joni's songs and their own, telling stories of their lives through song. There was not an empty seat in the Bazaar, and crowds were five people deep outside the tent listening in and hoping to catch a glimpse of these incredible women." - The Chronicle ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 7 Jan 2014 02:50:24 +0000 From: Michael quebec Subject: Elly Paspala covering Black Crow Hi, I noticed on JM.com that Elly Paspala did a few Joni tribute concerts in Greece last November.
